Favorite Relaxing Dates at Disney

Hello Disney lovers and newlyweds! Today I’m speaking straight to you with my favorite relaxing dates at Disney! Whether you’re a seasoned local who visits often, or a first-time visitor from out of town, there are so many fantastic, relaxing Disney date ideas. So many people think of Disney as a theme park flooded with screaming, crying toddlers, and while it is definitely a family theme park, there are also so many places you can visit to get away from the kid-craziness and enjoy a peaceful date with your spouse! My favorite times spent with my husband are all here on Disney property, and I can’t wait to share our favorite Disney dates with you. My husband and I each chose our top three to share with you, so let’s get to it!

Visit Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park’s Nomad Lounge

We all know eating and drinking at Disney isn’t cheap, but this is an awesome and more affordable option than sitting at Pizzafari with all the families and their shrieking children! The food at Nomad Lounge is unique and delicious, and it’s arguably one of the best atmospheres on property! My husband and I love to visit right at sunset and sit outside on the back patio. It’s such a quiet area with a beautiful view of the water and greenery behind it. It’s so relaxing and secluded, you almost don’t remember you’re at Disney!

Afterwards, we stroll over to Pandora – The World of Avatar which is absolutely stunning at night! Once the sun goes down, the land glows by night with bioluminescent flora and so many vibrant colors. I cannot even begin to describe the beauty; you simply must visit yourself! We also recommend taking in Avatar Flight of Passage at this time as the queue will be the shortest right before the park closes. This is literally my idea of a perfect, relaxing Disney date idea at Animal Kingdom, and you’ll have to let me know your thoughts if you try it out!

Lunch at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn

On a sunny day, we love to visit Disney’s Boardwalk Inn for lunch before a visit to Epcot, since it’s so close! Boardwalk is fantastic for lunch as there’s such a variety of quick service options. Boardwalk has a myriad of food booths along the water, serving corn dogs, chicken tenders, pizza, sandwiches, salads, ice cream and more. I love to grab a slice of pepperoni pizza and my husband loves the loaded buffalo chicken fries, so it’s perfect if you have different food interests. We enjoy sitting outside on the benches near the water and watching the boats float by, making it one of my husband’s favorite relaxing dates at Disney!

Visit the animals at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

Did you know Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge has a savannah with animals you can visit? Make a reservation for an adventurous, delicious all-you-can-eat meal at Boma, then head outside the giant glass wall to see the animals! We’ve been able to see giraffes, zebra, wildebeest, and more during our visits, and the animals are so peaceful, it’s hard not to feel instantly rested when you see them. We could literally spend hours together watching the animals here, and hope you find it a relaxing date idea too!

Watch the fireworks at Magic Kingdom Park

I could not write a blog post on relaxing dates at Disney without mentioning the fireworks at Magic Kingdom Park, as it’s such an iconic, romantic Disney date! I’ll never forget my first time watching the Happily Ever After Fireworks show with my husband. It’s truly magical in a way words can’t describe. To avoid stress and overwhelm, you’ll definitely want to claim your spot on Main Street, U.S.A. about an hour ahead of showtime. This way you won’t have to worry about finding a good view at the last minute. Or, for an even better escape from the crowds, take the monorail to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and watch the fireworks from the beach! You can grab a dole whip to share from Pineapple Lanai as you take in the fireworks; the resort even plays the fireworks soundtrack to go along with the great view!

Grab a drink at Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar

Located at Disney Springs, I love visiting Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar during a Disney date because the food and atmosphere are phenomenal! We love, love, love Air Pirate’s Cargo Loaded Pretzel. Just picture it – a warm, soft pretzel surrounded by your favorite charcuterie, including prosciutto, sliced brats, pepperoni, smoked cheddar, pickles, spicy mustard, and beer cheese fondue! This is also an awesome location if you and/or your spouse do not drink, as it has some of the best non-alcoholic drinks on property. Now you don’t have to feel left out of the fun if your spouse drinks or you’re on a double date with friends!

Further, the atmosphere at Hangar Bar is so fun and unique! It’s very complementary to vintage Jungle Cruise type vibes. There are so many details hidden in the décor, so don’t forget to spend some time taking in the sights!

Take a ride on the Disney Skyliner

You’ll definitely want to take a ride on the Disney Skyliner with your spouse during your next visit! The Skyliner has such a nice breeze, making it a perfect option when the weather is nice! You can also snap such great pictures and views of the parks and resorts from this height!

My husband and I especially love visiting Disney’s Rivera Resort from the Skyliner. The station is super convenient and the only place where you can catch the beautiful Tangled and Peter Pan themed mosaic displays! While at Rivera Resort, we enjoy playing croquet and corn hole outside on the grassy back lawn. For a quick bite, Bar Riva (pool bar) and Primo Piatto are home to some of the absolute best quick service options on property. I also absolutely love Le Petit Café, a cute little coffee shop with lots of different coffees, cappuccinos, lattes, and pastries.

Conclusion

While these don’t even begin to touch the surface of all the amazing options, that wraps up my husband and I’s favorite relaxing dates at Disney! Let me know your favorite Disney dates in the comments below!
